Each of the 23 highly detailed designs is fully charted in color, plus there is nice background information about each one. We learn, for example, that the ibis-headed Egyptian deity Thoth is credited with the invention of hieroglyphics, and that the Chinese dragon's waking, sleeping, and breathing was believed to determine night and day. In addition, a "symbol library" charts 35 smaller motifs (such as the yin-yang, Viking runes, Hindu talismans, and early Christian symbols). With subtle shadings and elaborate detail, these designs are apparently meant for the more experienced stitcher. The designs she offers are more complex than many in her earlier collections and are presented as projects for pillows, bags, and clothing. The zodiac designs are particularly striking. Each design is charted in color and symbols with a DMC thread key. A small section of motifs is charted in color only, though there are color photographs of all the finished projects. This is a great pattern book! Clear and concise instructions. Recommendations on how to finish your projects. There are a variety of project size from very small (samples of crosses) to very large (afghan/wall hanging of a wizard with a moon border). It' also nice to have a pattern book that doesn't follow the basic cross stitch genres: samplers and flowers, etc. This book contains patterns for all the Zodiac signs, wizards, Vikings, Egyptians and more!!! This is a hard cover book with a dust jacket.
The book I purchased is hard cover. The patterns are color coded. Easy to reference. It's kind of cool because each pattern has a little information/history about the character. Many creative ideas for any projects as well. This book is more for someone familiar with counted cross stitch.
Great group of designs in this book. I purchased it hoping for Sun/moon designs. I wasn't disappointed. It also has all the astrology signs in it and they are quite wonderful. Like any cross stitch book you'll find some you like and some you don't.

I live on an island so crossstitch-designs of the sun, moon and stars are particular favorites. I love the color choices and color options. Well done.
Has some nice patterns but like all pattern books, it leaves me wishing for some different designs.
