As far as zombie books go - this is par for the course. It is easy entertainment and you'll blaze through the pages. But boy - you really need to suspend belief (like a lot over the norm of the genre).You've got two brothers - both super young with 1000s of dollars in guns and gear. One was a 4-year Marine with no combat experience that seems to be highly skilled in tactical maneuvers. Training only goes so far. The brothers are extremely good shots under duress and are ready for the NWO.On the flip side, you've got a father that spent 300,000 dollars on truck upgrades for just-in-case. He's pretty cool though, and a good dad, so there is that.There is some major Jesus love in this story.When reading the first couple pages - I kept thinking that an editor and a seasoned writer could tighten things up. But, I kept reading.And when I was done, I jumped right to Book 2. It was a fun story. The characters are all fun with their own hang-ups and the author loves head-shots and death. And Jesus.I'm actually about 25% into Book 2 at this moment. 3.7 of 5 Stars
As far as zombie books go this one isn't as horrific as most of them . Welcome to OUTBREAK . This story is about two brothers that have been basically training for this their whole lives and when the zombie apocalypse hits they start to get out of town . Along with a few stragglers they find a small town where they seem safe for a bit but alas all things are not as they seem . Will they survive and get to a safe place This is a short fast read where the author takes us on an adventure . There are guns , gore and throw in a little God in there for fun . The characters are well written but seemed just a little flat sometimes . Also there are a few editing mistakes at the beginning where they could of just tightened it up a bit and the story would flow so much better . Over all I really liked this book the character are really fun and the story is fast paced . If you like the walking dead you will enjoy this book . So check it out
Before I get into all the flowery bouquets, let me just say that I'm not all that big into the Zombie craze. To me, I pretty much stop at Zombie Apocalypse jokes--but I LOVED this book. The author took a typical zombie apocalypse story and put a unique twist and personal spin on it. The style of the book is fast paced, and action packed with bits of humor seeded throughout--as well as some thought provoking dialogue between the characters. If you like stories where the good guys are put in impossible situations, check this one out. Oh, and don't let the fact that this was a debut novel. It doesn't read like an authors first book, it is a well crafted story with a solid structure and a smooth and fun read. I can't wait to read about the rest of the 'brothers' adventure.
Outbreak is the first book in a story about a pair of brothers and their journey to get from Montana to Alaska during a zombie apocalypse. At first it seems like everything is going to be just fine as these brothers are more than your average guy and better prepared than most but the tide turns as they race to reach their parents before the "bad guys" find them! They quickly find out that the zombies are the least of their worries. I could definitely feel for the brothers as they struggled with their faith in God and doing the right thing over taking no crap from the people they run into because of course, a zombie apocalypse always seems to bring out the worst in some people! The language in this book is relatively clean and there aren't a lot of gory death scenes. Mostly just your usual death by bullet or melee weapon but the author doesn't drag it out and describe every drop of blood like some authors do.

The older brother is a formerMarine and both brothers have a gun culture and religious upbringing. So, anytime religion becomes a "thing" in a story, I pretty much get hives. At the first part of the story, I could feel the tell-tale itchiness occuring... lol but I took my benadryl and it settled for the second half with just some minor Jesus references. But gotta say, these boys (the brothers and the Dad) really love how they look in their zombie apocalypse gear! Lol Constant, technical description of each other, themselves, and their gear and guns got a little repetitive BUT it's likely the people who would survive the zombie apocalypse WOULD know all this stuff! ;) All in all, a good story, with tight action, only needing a smidge more "feeling" in it to build reader involvement, but for the most part, does its job!
