I took the exam today and scored 849 out of a possible 900. I was able to pass because of my experience (35 years in IT, 18 months in the cloud) rather than this books contents. The online practice exam that this book gives you access to bore virtually no similarity to the actual exam which was more scenario based. The book does not go into enough depth for you to be able to answer some of the questions about routing, firewalls, VPNs, SAN switch and fiber channel controller configuration to name a few. The exam seems more focused on the Cloud provider engineer rather than the cloud services consumer. Overall a good starting point though so you at least know the basic certification topics.

Great book. But not divided into sections like the exam. I think it's fourteen chapters. Do not make it your only source for study material.

The book was well laid out and an easy study. I was able to pass the cert on first try.

Dont' know your Private Cloud from your Hybrid Cloud, your Hypervisor from your VM, or your IaaS, from your Saas, PaaS, DBaas from you CaaS, this may be the book for you. Excellent source for explanations, Key Terminologies and and practice tests to prepare you for the CompTIA Certification. Just buy it, the reference is worth it alone and it will most likely give you the extra edge to help you pass your next cloud certification.

Hagiography of John Boyd. Misrepresents Army doctrine and history. The author never bothered to read the official after action report of operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, since the Army faced the vast majority of the Cuban armed forces on the island. He also never bothered to provide any context for Boyd's misguided attack on the Army's understanding of synchronization. Boyd had no practical experience with land warfare or combined arms doctrine and it shows. A more balanced analysis of Boyd's theories is needed, but cannot be found in this book. For an example of a critique of Boyd's views on Clausewitz, this is from Chris Bassford: "The primary problem with Boyd's thinking is that he and his disciples consistently ignored the political factors in real-world strategy, on both the theoretical and practical levels' perhaps because there is not a lot of political interaction inside an F-86 cockpit. The results have been some useful tactical, doctrinal, and technical advances; much internecine bureaucratic hostility; and a whole lot of personal and career frustration and destruction. Boyd was an interesting character and he provided some useful tools, but a Clausewitzian would be uncomfortable calling him a"strategist." Boyd would have endorse the swift by-pass of cities and towns in the Iraq war. And as we have seen in the prolonged resistance campaign he would have been wrong.

Many biographers fall into the trap of lionizing the subject. Author Robert Coram did so in his bio on Brute Krulak, but here goes beyond mere lionization and deifies Boyd. That's a real shame, since Boyd is a very interesting subject, that blind adulation is not needed, detracts from the author's credibility and after awhile, gets really redundant.Boyd's resume includes, fighter pilot, instructor at Fighter Weapons School, engineer, scholar. He was also abrasive, self destructive, brilliant, driven, insecure and made many powerful enemies. Coram takes you through those experiences showing how Boyd made an impact on each of these jobs. There are some technical errors in the book, but I thought it was well documented, researched an easy read- just one sided. Unfortunately, it is not ground breaking news that the Pentagon is bureaucratic, weapons procurement is broken, but not everyone there is a careerist, Boyd did have help along the way.Boyd was unique, had a profound impact on the Air Force, fighting tactics, military planning, facts that hold this book together. There are many interesting revelations - how a small group of people (AKA the Fighter Mafia), took on the system, made positive changes which in turn led to the next generation of fighters, tactics and strategy.Like Boyd, the book has its flaws, but is very interesting to read - a true David and Goliath story about a scary smart pilot, it's fun when the little guy wins - in Col Boyd's case, not wealth or fame, but making a difference. Boyd's genius and obsessiveness with his quest for knowledge reminded me of John Nash (subject of the 2001 movie A Beautiful Mind).Recommended reading for aviation buffs, air force historians, those who want to see the development of the theory behind the F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10 planes. The book lacks enough objective data to answer the question, was Boyd really the single most influential pilot ever, changing even the art of war? Perhaps not, but Boyd got a lot of people thinking, as does Coram. Five stars for thinking less one star for lack of objectivity.

As with other guerrilla leaders, intellectual or military, Boyd inspires adoration and acrimony. That more of his accomplishments are not widely celebrated, or at least acknowledged, is particularly unfortunate. Also similar to previous guerrillas, there are myths about the man that must occasionally be sifted through if one seeks to stay in reality. Nonetheless, one would do well to study and learn from the man, his life, and his ideas. Above all, this book presents a story of a man, really several men, who were willing to work and sacrifice for the ideas they stood behind. The choice to be somebody or to do something is applicable well beyond military service members.In the first half of the book Mr. Coram does an excellent job discussing Col Boyd's contributions to air-to-air tactics and fighter design during the Cold War. The portions of the book detailing Boyd and The Reformers efforts in the Pentagon are fascinating, but the machinations of that institution are so complex that I imagine it difficult to give the whole story, even in a volume such as Boyd. Nonetheless, Mr. Coram colorfully highlights the petty inter-service and internecine squabbles that occurred inside the great pentagonal palace. While Coram holds Boyd up high he does not gloss over all his faults. He does not dwell on the man's short comings, but they are a present undercurrent throughout the the book.But beyond the very positive narrative are instances of poor scholarship and subpar research. When Boyd gets to Washington in 1966 the author claims that the WWII generals who led the USAF were being replaced by Air Force Academy grads. Seeing that the first class graduated in 1959 it's absurd to say they were replacing the generals just 7 years after commissioning. There is also an utter failure to mention the six weeks of heavy aerial bombing that preceded the Left Hook and 100 hour ground campaign during Desert Storm. This is not to diminish the brilliant success of the guys on the ground, but air power dealt a critical blow to Saddam's forces and shaped the outcome of the war. Finally, there was a technically puzzling statement that the B-1 had trouble clearing high terrain when fully loaded. Operations in Afghanistan have put any such claims to rest.Admittedly, the David versus Goliath theme of the book paints the senior military leadership, and especially that of the Air Force, in a shameful light. As an Air Force officer and pilot, perhaps I should take more umbrage at Coram's apparent slandering. However, considering the AH-56 vs A-10 fight, the recent C-27J debacle, the multiple attempts to retire the A-10, and the long-standing institutional attitude toward close air support, it is impossible to dismiss his critiques as baseless or implausible. But, this book will not improve anyone's opinion of the USAF or greater military-industrial complex.Overall, this is an excellent read and the impact of Boyd's work has clearly spread well beyond the battlefield, much like Sun Tzu. (Whether the two men are truly equals is a debate for another forum.) Without a doubt, reading about the bombastic guerrilla fighter pilot and his work/theories would be well worth anyone's time.

I absolutely admire this woman! She is amazing, intelligent, and passionate. But I am sooo disappointed by the lack of pictures! Honestly....I love cookbooks because I love looking at food and getting inspired. But sadly, for some of the dishes, I have never even heard of them, and have no idea what I'm even trying to create. There are only a few images in the middle of the book (very "grandma's cookbook style). But they don't really help when you're trying to make a dish you've never seen before. I'll keep the book, there are some interesting ideas, but basically use margarine, almond milk and eggs substitute and you're done.

I love Mayim Bialik, so I was super stoked when I learned she had a vegan cookbook. After flipping through it, though, I'm bummed that a lot of the recipes use highly processed substitutes, such as vegan cheeses, sour cream, mayonnaise, and egg substitutes. Not for me.

I am very pleased with this book so far, but there are still lots of recipes I haven't even tried yet! I just baked the fruity oatmeal muffins the other day and got great reviews from family. I also loved the pancakes and the green smoothie. I have been vegetarian for four years, but eat so little dairy, I'm as close to vegan as one can get, so this book gives me some excellent ideas, especially for breakfasts. This one is definitely a keeper for anyone that is relatively new to plant-based eating. I'd recommend it!

I was surprised so much GMO (Tofu, Tempeh) and artificial products are used in these recipes (egg substitute, cheese substitute) as well as pasta. I didn't get the impression this was Vegan healthy living but the lack of animal as the point.Also, the first HALF of the book was to educate why you should be vegan, I don't expect that of a recipe book.

I just love Mayim from way back when she was Blossom and now that she is the only scientist that can calm Sheldon. And I love her cookbook as well! This is not just another book filled with recipes.The photographs of the food fit well and give the food even appeal and Mayim adds personal conjecture as well, such as how her young sons took to the foods. Ms. Bialik is a devotee of the Vegan-Kosher lifestyle, which is not the easiest diet to find cookbooks for. However, her recipes are simple and hearty fares that are easy to make and the ingredients are easy to find (if you live near large towns or cities). I have made several of the recipes and the majority of them were delicious. This is an excellent choice if you are on either a vegan or kosher diet...or both!

Mayim took time to give a concise but thorough introduction to the topic of veganism. It is written in such a way that the younger crowd can identify with a well-respected, well-educated peer who has not only researched this particular dietary approach to good eating but who uses it enthusiastically in her everyday life. I keep having to replace my copy! The interest it sparks in the younger generation makes it a great book to share with kids and grandkids and gives greater validity to our whole family's desire to live healthier lives and to reflect that in our eating habits.

My only wish for this book was for there to be more recipes that don't use wheat products as I'm not only converting to vegan but also trying to followWilliam Davis' "Wheat Belly" regimen of living wheat-free. Almost half of all recipes used wheat in some form. I absolutely love her guacamole recipe !.

Wonderful. Family is not vegan, but daughter and myself rarely eat meat so was looking for an alternative.

Having Professor Whaley as my instructor might have been an advantage, but this book is different from any of my other course books in law school. Sure, there are your usual cases and case law, but Whaley presents the reader with real life problems that a debtor, creditor, or attorney in this area might end up facing. It defiantly makes you think about the law and apply it in a way that many other law school courses don't. Makes the material easier to understand and remember. Definitely, highly recommend this book.

In the sixth edition.Given the price and audience I would expect at least decent grammar and no spelling errors. Well I would be wrong.Honestly if someone in my firm handed a memorandum or brief to me with these kind of errors I would seriously consider firing him or her immediately.

I haven’t lived through that time, but I can easily imagine such discrimination against women.Unfortunately, injustice and mistreatment still inflicts the women of Saudi Arabia in our day. Princess Sultana’s childhood brought back to me memories of my own childhood when my father preferred my brothers to us (his daughters) by giving them more freedom, love, toys and sometimes more food. To this day, generally speaking, men are granted full freedom and control over their lives while women are restricted to the home. Their way out of the house can only be achieved either through lucky marriage or strenuous education and personal strength coupled with ample leniency from their male guardians.Education, however, helped change Saudi men’s views on women. A growing number of Saudi fathers nowadays carry so much pride in being named after their first born daughter, refuse to let their daughters undergo FGM, insist on their daughters education, brag about sending their daughters abroad to finish their degrees, and strive to find the best husbands for their daughters.It is true that education has made tremendous positive changes to the lives of women in my country, but unfortunately little has been achieved legally for women. A man can still decide whether or not his daughters go to school, work or marry the men of their own choosing. The law does not protect women in many cases and the happiness of women here is down to the level of goodness of their male guardians.The narrator, nonetheless, fails sometimes to give a true picture of Saudi Arabia. Her stories appear to be either true to her region or class and carries less truth for other regions, classes or tribes. For example, labeling all Saudis as rich, claiming that alcohol has easy access to a Saudi home, or considering the announcement of engagement and weddings extremely private matters. Her narration at other times can only be considered authentic for her time, for the book cites so many almost dead practices such as women and men of no relations to one anther not being allowed in the same car, marrying young girls to old men, protecting babies from evil eye by pinning blue beads to their clothing, or celebrating the virginity of a new wife.As I read the book, I couldn’t help stop crying with every chapter. Some of the princess’s reflections reminded of a long gone childhood and her anger has reawaken suppressed feelings inside me. I felt that the years of submissiveness and helplessness have washed away my anger and ability to see the injustices of our situation. The first few chapters made me boil with anger, but as I kept reading and reflecting on our lives, my feelings changed to optimism. I am extremely grateful to the women who lived before me. Through their struggle, they helped pave the way for the women of my generation. I know too that women of future generations will reap the benefits of my generation’s struggle.

I know something of the world, but I had no idea....zero idea....of the extent of subjugation of women in Saudi Arabia as described in this book. I kept putting it down, not because I didn't like it, but because the misogynistic society described within its pages was so overwhelming. Why do the men of the middle east have to dominate women to this extent? There is great evil in this kind of cruelty towards the female gender. They are afraid of women. Why? I don't know whether to recommend this book or not. It was interesting, but shocking and upsetting. I came away from it angry, very angry.

This is so well written, so revealing and so believable that I don't even care how much is nonfiction. For those who have difficulty believing it, you may need to get out more - or just read more. Seriously! I taught Muslims in the US and went to graduate school with Kuwaiti men and women. I have friends who were nurses in Saudi Arabia. My husband spent time in Bahrain awaiting the start of the second Iraqi war before going in and nothing here seems unbelievable to us. In fact, it's not even surprising.

Seriously couldn't out this book down. To be fair, it is a very easy read, big font and 240-ish pages, which go by very fast. It is harrowing though, dont read if you expect to be titillated, you will just be horrified. But in an eye opening way.At first I wasn't sure if this was real or not. But after finishing it, I'm certain it is. I heard objections that it was too "sensational", which i find to be very disconcerting. If you find it hard to bevie that women are being treated like this, then you really need to get out more.

This book was well written and I found I wanted to read the entire trilogy as the books were insightful into the plight of women in the Muslim culture, insight into how excessive wealth can affect behavior and abuse by Muslims outside of their own culture as well. It deserves 4-stars but readers will find it disturbing on how females are valued and treated in the Muslim culture and there are many examples in which the abuse is truly criminal. This continues to haunt me and I believe it is very important that the world know and understand the plight of women in many of the Muslim cultures. To summarize it, this book is a waste of money.First of all, this book is full of fluff with a lot of extraneous matter, especially if you are pressed for time and the PSAT is nearing. We were only interested in practicing the Verbal (Reading+Writing) sections for my son. The verbal questions have quite a few errors, and the writing section which is supposed to be grammar asks for the main idea of the passage - i.e. it is structured like the reading test. My son, even while taking the test remarked that many of the questions are ambiguous or poorly framed got 4 wrong on the reading section, and 10 wrong on the writing test #2. For comparison, he has scored near perfect on both the math and Verbal sections according to the official college board sample PSAT test + the other tests on Khan academy.Also really annoying and disappointing is that only one test is included in the book. To take the second online test, you have to register online and disclose a lot of personal information about your child including contact information, which I supposed will be used for marketing Kaplan's other services like coaching classes..The Barron's guide is better than this book, but the PSAT book from Ivy-Global with 3 sample tests proved to have the most accurate sample tests compared to the official tests from college board/Khan academy.

I am a math tutor in Staten Island, NY, and have been for 35 years. I bought two copies of this book: one for an SAT student of mine and one for myself. The math sections are terrible. There are questions that are poorly worded, so that there is no way to know what the author meant. In these cases I had to look at the answer in order to know what the question really was. This is not helpful for a student working on his/her own. There are other questions that are written correctly, and have beautifully written explanations, BUT THAT ARE INCORRECT! They are answers and explanations for similar problems, but not for the one asked. It got to the point where I couldn't get through even one lesson without losing significant time to these kinds of errors. I had to stop using the book. I have had these problems with Kaplan books for over ten years, and I am now giving up on them. I will not waste my time and money, nor the time and money of my students, on any more Kaplan books. You would think that a company that prints many tens of thousands (I'm guessing) of the same test prep book that is sold all over the country, this year and for the next few years, and I assume makes good money doing so, would want to publish one with good material. I guarantee you that the math sections in this book were not edited by anyone with a masters or Ph.D. in mathematics. It is clear to me after all these years of dealing with this same problem with their SAT prep books, as well as with their h.s. entrance books, that Kaplan doesn't care about the content of their books, their reputation, or the students they are hurting with faulty questions, and wrong answers and explanations. In contrast, I have never found even one error in any College Board book. If there is a mistake or two in a book, I can note them and still use the book; however, the Kaplan books I've used are so riddled with mistakes that they are not good learning tools. It makes me sad to think how many students working on their own with Kaplan prep books have spent their time only to be confused and taught the wrong thing. Kaplan is putting the growth of their bottom line above helping the students who buy their books, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

The only reason I am giving this review two stars is because it attempts to help prepare an incoming 11th grader for the PSAT.First off, I noticed a good amount of questions have errors in them including wrong numbering of the lines in the reading section and repeating the same answer choice for letter choices.Also, pertaining to the reading section, there are comparatively difficult words that the book expects you to know, yet the College Board had specifically said that the words would be challenging, but simple enough that the meaning can be determined by the context. However, in the PSAT there is no context when the difficult vocabulary is in the answer choices.The answer explanations in the back of the book are very broad and do not explain why certain answers aren't correct even if they seem to be. This is not as much needed for the math section, but is vital for the reading and writing sections. Some answers are phrased "C summarizes the main idea of the passage" and doesn't even explain what that main idea is.The math content in the book is okay. The questions seem adequate, but the Kaplan Strategy they tell you to do everytime is very contradicting, because they also tell you to spend the smallest amount of time as you can. However, the Kaplan strategy can easily take 2-4 minutes for a question that should only take 1.The grammar section of the book is okay, and explains a good amount of grammatical functions like usage and punctuation as well as misused words.The practice in the book is good enough, but I would highly recommend using the Collegeboard New SAT book to help prepare as it is made by the people who also produce the test and this year, the new SAT coming in March is very similar to the new PSAT. I hope this helped!

Book is excellent and the one practice test in the book is fabulous. Comes with detail explanations. However the online test doesn't exist. It's a ploy to get you to sign up for their online tutoring. I went through several pages of "registering" my book only to discover the resource "is no longer available." Very disappointing.

Used to study for the PSAT 2015. My son had no complaints about it. I guess we'll see when the scores come in but he seemed to have an easy time of it.

My son used this as preparation for the PSAT with an online class. He seemed to do well on the test and was in good spirits upon completion.

The questions in this book are poorly written. Many explanations are vague and irrelevant. This is a rushed publication the make a quick buck. The Kaplan SAT prep books in the years before this one were much better quality.

A total waste of a comic to read didn't hold my interest an it was dull to read this comic.

This Jonathan Maberry what else do I need to say. Get this and anything else he writes

Decided to get the whole volume after the first to episodes I brought because It was such an awesome story line...

I ordered this because I am, or rather, WAS a fan of Jonathan Mayberry. This is a comic book. I thought it was a book series. I am mad and canceled my other Jonathan Mayberry purchase. Never again.

'V-Wars' gets the graphic novel treatment. For those not familiar with the series, they are are linked stories about a virus named ICE that turns people into vampires and a series of linked characters that show up in some of the stories. Based on genetics, people can be turned into a variety of vampires based on their bloodline.Professor Swann is a main character of the series, and this book gives some background on him that I didn't know. He is at the forefront of trying to understand and find a way for the vampires (bloods) to live peaceably with the humans (beats). He is embedded in a military unit that is at the front of what seems to be a vampire war. There are groups of people trying to push war to the forefront, and as hard as Swann tries, his words seem to be more and more futile. It all culminates in a confrontation that will leave Swann with some choices to make.It was an okay story, but I think I prefer the prose versions over this graphic novel version. I felt like the art was a bit weak, and the story seemed a bit overly long. Most of the V-Wars stories I've read have been more concise and punchy. Still it's interesting to see this in a graphic novel and for Swann to take center stage.I was given a review copy of this graphic novel by Diamond Book Distributors, IDW Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

I enjoyed it fairly well considering I had my fair share of war and frankly I tire of it.The characters were interesting, a little flat but we're focusing on the war so building the characters will go a little slower, they were trying to do what they felt was right in a time where they had even less power than a human would usually have.I like the fact that we have actual monsters in this war. We have something, vampires, that people have throughout history considered villainous towards humanity. But what now that they are simply people infected with a virus? What now that the human genome is being altered by sickness and is resulting in these people with powers and strange appearances, not all, but a good many?I feel that by utilizing the fact that humans become monsters and it is these differences that terrify those in power into action, or at times gives those in power a way to engage in violence against a specific group of people because there is already great unrest, and by drumming up more unrest so they sneak by undetected to do whatever it is their queasy, black hearts desire.Most want peace, nearly everyone wants peace, no one wants a war on home front, it takes decades to recoup from that. While there are extremists on any side of anything, political or religious [sometimes sports], they are relatively small in number compared to the entire population, and when we let extremists strike fear into the majority we get issues like blaming a whole population or culture for the actions of a few.By showing an incredibly gray viewpoint, and I mean smack dab in the middle gray, not vaguely stating that group A or group B is possibly gunna turn into the good guys, gives a much truer voice to what war really feels like. And I feel that is how war should be looked at, very rarely are there' fully good or fully bad guys on just one side. Even if the "good guys" come and help there's still the chance that they're only helping to gain something besides peace out of this.The plot flows fairly well, as a comic there's very few lulls, and even then they are short, the premise is interesting and it really makes you think about who really are the monsters in the battles.
